Fourth graders experience the wonder of orchestra symphony
Grant gives elementary students the opportunity to experience symphony peformance
Symphony performingShelby Foundation LogoUtica Community Schools students recently enjoyed a day at the symphony, thanks to Shelby Community Foundation in Shelby Township.  Switzer's fourth grade students attended the Macomb Symphony Orchestra Youth Education Concert on March 13.

The concert featured performances by the 70-member orchestra, under the direction of Thomas Cook.  Our students listened to music written by composers from around the world and heard demonstrations of individual instruments played by the principal players in each section of the orchestra.

"With the help of grants and donations from supporters such as Shelby Community Foundation, our students are exposed to educational performances designed to foster a love of music." said Switzer music teacher, Nancy Cannava.

"I would like to acknowledge and express our appreciation for this community partner who supports the importance of music education for our children."
